Welcome to the Holders Season and the website. As we prepared the publicity materials for the coming Season we unearthed a press quote which asked 'Could it be the world's most beautiful and glamorous festival?' Well, a good question and it could well be true, we don't know. But true or not we genuinely hope that it is one of the most enjoyable and stimulating festivals, for that's what it is; a real festival that celebrates magnificent performers and performances from around the world.

For example it couldn't be more exciting to have our Shakespeare play this year from the very best - London's Globe Theatre, that remarkable recreation of Shakespeare's original theatre and now one of the most important of London's cultural assets. But we run very wide and deep again this year with magic in the air from Senegalese master musician, N'Faly Kouyaté, as well as fabulous music from North America in the shape of the almighty Campbell Brothers - clean your ears out for that one! - and the world bests that are the Preservation Hall Jazz Band from New Orleans. Then there's opera, classical music, children's entertainment etc etc... and you have what I hope will be in vintage Holders Season.

If you haven't been to Holders before, do come and join us. You are warmly welcome. If you are a 'seasoned Season-er', naturally you are welcome back. You sort of know what to expect, but equally hope we will always manage to surprise you!

Stewart Collins
Executive Director

The Holders Season is supported supported principally by the Barbados Tourism Authority, The National Cultural Foundation and Virgin Atlantic.
