Sounds of Africa N'Faly Kouyate and musicians + Adan Pedroso and Papa Noel
Following the hugely successful opening night of the 2006 Season featuring Zimbabwe's Black Umfolosi, The Holders grounds will once again echo to the authentic sounds of Africa. Master Kora player, Senegalese N'Faly Kouyate together with his band is one of the world's top names. His infectious and magical sounds are preceeded by the stunning Congo/Cuban guitar duo Papa Noel and Adan Pedroso.
Tuesday 26th February
From Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (London) - Much Ado About Nothing
Shakespeare's delicious romantic comedy centres on the love story between the young lovers Claudio and Hero and the 'merry war' of the sexes between Beatrice and Benedick. It is performed in a sparkling production by Jo Howarth that comes from London's remarkable re-creation of Shakespeare's original theatre, The Globe.

Kit and the Widow
One of the most popular acts ever to have graced the Holders stage, Kit and the Widow are "Painfully funny...their sweetly smiled, oh so well mannered put downs going for the kill every time...". Surrender to the slings and arrows of outrageous comedy song and badinage.

The Piano - Keyboard Kings Ben 'Boogie Woogie' Waters + The David Rees Williams Trio
Two sensational masters of the keyboard, Ben Waters, the hi-energy master of the boogie-woogie and David Rees Williams, the new Jacques Loussier - incredible jazz interpretations of great classical masterpieces. Both are supported by their backing musicians. Spellbinding musical skills.

An Evening of Music under the Stars with the Caribbean’s most celebrated musical group The Merrymen and also featuring The Barbados Defence Force Band.

Classical Double Mill Bravo! & The Montreal Guitar Trio
The exceptional and always entertaining Montreal Guitar Trio performs a programme of exquisite arrangements ranging from the tango to top film scores. This will be followed by a brilliant glimpse at the world of opera. Scripted by Charles Hart - the lyricist of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera - Bravo! presents the world and music of the operatic tenor and baritone - featuring singers Phillip Sheffield and Quentin Hayes.

Comedy Night 2nd City Touring Co. Chicago
The Holders Season's annual attack on the funny bone. Chicago's 2nd City Touring Company is justifiably described as 'the world's greatest comedy theatre company' and has generated comedy giants including Alan Arkin, Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray. In a major coup for Holders, the latest crop of comic talents bring their remarkable brand of improvised humor to the magical garden.

Poetry on the Gallery - Love is all around
Leading British actor Simon Williams and friends presents an evening of words music, wit and wisdom about the great universal subject that is love. Passionate love, pure love, cynical love, unrequited love.. all sorts of love. With contributions from Edward Lear, P J O'Rourke, George Bernard Shaw, P G Wodehouse and many others.

The Piano 2 - Featuring Simon Mulligan
Holders is proud to welcome pianist Simon Mulligan recently described as "the quintessential 21st Century musician - a formidable pianist, equally adept at playing the classics and jazz". A major recording artist, composer and arranger, his Holders programme includes masterpieces by Chopin, Schubert and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. The programme will also feature a guest appearance by dynamic percussion duo, The Drum Blondes.

Gospel and Blues Night with The Campbell Brothers
The Holders Season has seen some great blow out musical nights in its time, but the New York based Campbell Brothers threaten to eclipse all the rest with an explosive mixture of funk, jazz and soul inspired gospel music featuring the growling, wailing, shouting, singing and swinging voice of the steel guitar, played as you have never heard it played before.. Put it in the diary now!
